Winston CHURCHILL said;
The death of Atatürk, who saved Turkey during the war and revived the Turkish nation, is not only a loss for his country, but it is also a great loss for Europe. The sincere tears that people from all classes have shed, are nothing more then the true reflection of this great man - the Father of the modern Turkey.

The sincere tears shed after him by all classes of people is nothing other than an appropriate manifestation to this great hero and modern Turkey's Ata.
Winston CHURCHILL, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (1938)

D. Lloyd George said;
We meet genius people very rarely in centuries. It is so unlucky that, in this century that great genius person belongs to the Turkish Nation.

The centuries rarely produce a genius. Look at this bad luck of ours, that great genius of our era was granted to the Turkish nation.

Sir Alexander Douglas-Home

Sir Alexander Douglas-Home said;
Fifty years before this we heard the name of Mustafa Kemal as a distinguished Turkish Commander. Later, with the establishment of peace, he got the opportunity to put forth his characteristics as a statesman and as one of the great national leaders, he gained one of the most eminent ranks in history. We remember that courageous and heroic soldier with respect and that statesman, the true father of modern Turkey with praise and gratitude.

Lord Patrick Kinross said;
Atatürk was one of the greatest statesman of everyone who has lived and died throughout history. At no time did he dwell on the period in which he lived, he would see the future and accordingly would carry out a task.

In the life of a nation it is very seldom that changes to such a radical degree were carried out in such a short period of time... Proof of his excellence is

Proof of his excellence is below:
Hard in battle, Kemal was nevertheless gracious to his enemies, later writing of the Allied soldiers killed at Gallipoli: ‘Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side now here in this country of ours... you, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land. They have become our sons as well.’

Great soldiers deserve that

Great soldiers deserve that title not only with what they do at war; but more importantly what they do thereafter. After demolishing Greek defence lines in a matter of hours and bringing general Trikoupis to an unequivocal defeat (25-30 Aug 1922), when the captured general was brought to his presence his words were "General, you are our guest now. You have fought gallantly but it was our turn to win. Do not despair and please do tell us if there is anything we can do for you", to which surrendered general Trikoupis responded with desire to write to his wife, which was immediately taken care of. This is why one can understand his words to the mothers of fallen Anzacs. He was a grand statesman also. He said: We need to educate our women rapidly because a society with its women oppressed by the other half can amount to nothing as they constitute 50% of population, if nothing else." He personally fought in the Parliament for suffrage.

Ataturk did not try to

Ataturk did not try to reclaim the land beyond the Maritsa River, which was his homeland, as this frontier had been established after the Balkan Wars and was legally binding to the Ottoman Empire, as well as to its successor Turkish republic. Nor did Ataturk insist on capturing Mosul and/or Kirkuk from the British. He was a man who knew his (and his army's) limits, unlike some other historical foes of England. He also respected international law and recognized its importance in the fates of nations. You will not find an adverse quote from Lloyd George or Churchill about this man who undid their careers.

Ataturk was not only a great

Ataturk was not only a great soldier and a great statesman, he was also the greatest peace maker. I don't know any great soldier in history who has stated a phrase like "Peace in country, peace in world" and "War is a murder, if it is not a must for the life of the nation". I believe that if he was not died earlier the second world war would not be started.

In full belief that most of his virtues have been mentioned already, I would like to point out that he probably was the first commander to ever put some emphasis on nature preservation to the extent that he moved a big house a few meters just to avoid having to cut down a tree which was an obstruction to that building... This is a distinct example of his versatile virtues of not just being a soldier, statesman, politician, teacher, etc..,but, a pioneer of the now-a-days popular Green Peace type activities that have started decades after him.. He was a pig plus for the whole human race... May the Lord grant us a few more leaders like him for the welfare of humankind...
