Is there a buggy area?

Yes, there is. The area supervisor may ask you to fold your buggy.

Are there toilets in the same room?

The nearest toilets are on the lower ground floor, closely situated to the Kids' Zone.

Is there a baby changing area?

Yes, there are baby changing units in the male and female toilets.

Are there any specific dress requirements?

Shoes are not permitted in the play area. Socks must be worn at all times.

What is the main difference between the 'Major' and 'General' birthday packages?

The 'General' package provides hot food items whereas the 'Major' package does not. Also, the party bags for the 'General' package contain an extra souvenir.

What's the arrangement with the Kids' Zone?

The party packages include an hour's exclusive use of the Kids' Zone. In the second hour the children move on to a private room for a birthday party tea.

What are the times of the birthday party slots?

The morning session runs from 11.20am to 1.20pm. The afternoon session runs from 3.00pm until 5.00pm.

How long can a birthday party last?

The party lasts for two hours. In the first hour children have exclusive use of the Kids' Zone and in the second hour children move on to a private room for a birthday party tea.

Are birthday invitations included in the price?

Yes, they are.

How long before the party will I receive birthday invitations?

As soon as you have booked your party, the relevant documentation will be sent including a batch of invitations.

How many children are included in a package?

Each package is for 20 children. The 'Major' package is £395 for 20 children, plus £17 for any extra heads. The 'General' package is £495 for 20 children, plus £22 for any extra heads.

How many children can fit into the Lunch Room?

The Lunch Room can comfortably hold 20 children and about five adults.

Tables in the Café area, closely situated to the Lunch Room, can also be reserved for any extra adults that may attend the birthday party.

Alternatively, there is the option to upgrade to a larger room (the Lecture Theatre), which holds 35 children and 30 adults. The cost to upgrade is £100 (+ VAT). You can find out more about room upgrades on our Optional Extras page.

How old do the children have to be?

Children should be between 0 and 8 years old. Children over 8 years old are not allowed to use the Kids' Zone.

What if a child is over 8 years old?

Any child who is over 8 years old can still enter the Kids' Zone and interact with the younger children. However, they would not be allowed to use the climbing frames.

What kind of food will be served?

If you choose the 'Major' package, the food will be: a selection of sandwiches; cocktail sausages; cucumber and carrot sticks; crisps; mini chocolate chip cookies; ice cream and fruit juice.

If you choose the 'General' package, your menu will be: baked potatoes wedges; cornflake-crusted chicken strips; a selection of sandwiches; cucumber and carrot sticks; crisps; fruit jelly and ice cream; mini chocolate chip cookies and fruit juice.

When will the food be served?

Food will be served in the second hour after the children have moved on from the Kids' Zone.

Is it possible to change the menu?

The caterers can provide for any special dietary requirements. Otherwise the party menu remains fixed.

Can I bring my own food?

Parents can provide extra food if they wish.

Does the amount of food cover the number of adults at the party?

No, it doesn't. Catering included in the party package is for children only. There is the option of ordering additional refreshments for adults.

What's inside the party bags?

Party bags consist of a cool camouflage drawstring kit bag containing camouflage stationery such as a notepad, pen, pencil and eraser. The 'General' package includes an additonal souvenir from the Museum Shop.

Is there a bigger space available if you have more than 20 guests?

Yes, there is. The price to upgrade to the function room is £100 (+VAT).

Is Twizzle included in the price?

Twizzle, the Museum's preferred children's entertainer, is not included in the party package price. You are welcome to arrange your own entertainment for the party.

How long will Twizzle perform for?

It is entirely up to the client.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

There is no deposit, but the Museum asks that you pay the full amount no later than two weeks prior to the party.

Is it possible to get refreshments for grown-ups as well?
