Last updated: 8 February 2012

7 June 2012, 12.30pm

Often dismissed as a light leading man, David Niven brought much greater range and depth to his films than is often appreciated. This lecture examines how his two very different army careers had considerable influence on both his screen portrayals and his writing. It will also consider some of the key films in which he played military roles, and the unique quality he brought to therm. A fresh evaluation of the work of this popular star.

Richard Burnip is an actor and historian whose work encompasses theatre, documentaries, lectures, articles, guided walks and audiobooks.
