Marching to a Different Beat

From pop stars to brass bands, music plays a huge part in the lives of soldiers.

At this special event you can:

  • Take part in a drumsticks workshop: an opportunity for all members of the family to make some noise
  • Singalong with the soldiers of the Second World War
  • Listen to the music of the Raj when sitarists and tabla players will play in the White Space gallery
  • Learn about the use of musical instruments in military signals
  • Get up close to the music in a 17th century pipes and drums workshop

In Good Company: An Evening of Tea and India

Experience an evening of Indian culture, music, food and tea.

The master tea blenders of The East India Company will demonstrate their skills. A sumptuous Indian meal will be served buffet style, while traditional Indian musicians play in the nearby Indian Army, Indian Art gallery.

This evening will also feature talks by leading experts on the history of The East India Company.

Our events use actor-interpreters in the roles of characters from the past, to bring history to life.
