Commonwealth soldiers in Palestine

Discover the diverse range of soldiers who contributed to the British First World War effort in Palestine.

After successfully defending the Suez Canal from a surprise attack by the Ottoman Army in January 1915, British Empire forces went on the offensive, pushing into the Sinai Peninsula and then invading Palestine. The decisive Allied victory at the Battle of Megiddo (19-25 September 1918) effectively knocked the Ottomans out of the war.

This video demonstrates the diverse range of soldiers who contributed to the British First World War effort in Palestine.
