Recruitment and conscription (virtual)

'Your Britain. Fight For it Now', 1942

Analyse recruitment posters from the Museum's collection and multimedia recreations of First World War parliamentary debates to explore the history of Army recruitment and conscription.

Can you identify how Army recruitment techniques have changed through time?

Using over 200 years of British Army recruitment posters, learners will explore the history of recruitment and conscription. Learners will investigate some of the changing ways that people were encouraged to join the Army, as well as the different approaches when targeting audiences from around the Empire and for non-soldiering roles including women.
