I think he is head and
I think he is head and shoulders above the other candidates listed. The range of talents he demonstrated was unparalleled. For me only Wellington came close. Our generals of the 20th century were a disappointing lot, by and large.

Anyone who can pull a stunt
Anyone who can pull a stunt like the march to the Danube in 1704, establishing depots on the way and fooling both enemies and allies as to his intentions has to get my vote.

He never fought a battle he
He never fought a battle he didn't win nor beseige a town he didn't take.
In a major war, he fought the enemy's main Army in the principal theatre of the war (Haig is the only other British general who did this) and controlled the whole strategy of the allies.
Head and shoulders above all others.

Not only the greatest
Not only the greatest general, but a loving husband to the most difficult of women. (Which is one reason I prefer him to Wellington, who in contrast had an easy life with poor Kitty but was so unpleasnst to her!).

These kind of generals come along once in a millenium.
