Make the day extra special by adding a celebratory meal in our Café. Pre-book food and drink from our tasty menu and our Café team will have this ready for you after your session.
Any Café booking is for one hour only and runs from 4.45pm to 5.45pm.
How to book
To book your exclusive Play Base session, please send an email to commercial@nam.ac.uk. We’ll get back to you to confirm the date and explain the next steps.
If your preferred date isn’t available, we'll offer an alternative. We recommend booking at least 30 days in advance to ensure your preferred date is available.
If you'd like to add on a celebratory meal, let us know and we'll put you in contact with our Café. The Café team will need to receive your order no later than one week before your booked session takes place.

How do I pay for my Play Base hire?
Once your exclusive session is confirmed, we will issue you with an invoice for payment. Payments are in GB Pounds Sterling and can be made by BACS transfer or by credit/debit card. We do not accept American Express. All prices are inclusive of VAT.
How do I book an add-on celebratory meal in the Café?
Once you have booked your exclusive Play Base session, our team will put you in contact with our Café team, who will confirm food and drink choices and book this in for you. Once confirmed, the Café team will invoice for pre-payment of food and drinks.
How many children can attend?
Exclusive Play Base hire is for up to 30 children. You can have fewer, but will be charged the same fee.
Do adults need to attend and how many can I invite?
The supervision of children is your responsibility. At least one adult must attend for every four children. No more than 15 adults are allowed in the session.
Can I bring an entertainer?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate entertainers for exclusive Play Base hire.
Am I allowed to take photos?
Yes, you can photograph or film in your exclusive Play Base hire.
Can I bring food, drink and birthday cake into Play Base?
No food or drink is allowed in Play Base.
I want to book an add-on celebratory meal in the Café. Can I order on the day?
No. For exclusive Play Base hire, all food and drink needs to be pre-booked, and paid for, before the date of your session.
Can I bring my own food and drink into the Café?
No. Only food and drink pre-ordered from our Café can be consumed in the Café.
Terms and conditions
- Standard Play Base terms and conditions of entry apply to exclusive Play Base hire.
- While every effort will be made to secure your preferred date, exclusive hire is subject to availability. In the event that your preferred date is unavailable, an alternative will be offered.
- Exclusive Play Base hire is only available during term time.
- Bookings must be paid for, in full, two weeks before your session.
- For add-on Café bookings, pre-booked food and drink choices must be sent to the Café team no later than one week before your session, and payment made no later than three days before your session.
- Add-on Café bookings are subject to a minimum £300 spend on Café food and drink.
- The add-on Café booking takes place immediately after your Play Base session and is for a maximum of one hour. All attendees need to leave the Museum site at 5.45pm.
- Payments for the Play Base session and catering are non-refundable.
- Sessions are for a maximum of 30 children. You can bring fewer than 30 children, but will still be charged the same fee.
- There must be one adult present in the session for every four children.
- All supervising adults are responsible for the behaviour and safety of the children in their care.
- Due to the size of the Play Base space, we are unable to accommodate more than 15 adults in the session.
- Exclusive Play Base hire starts and ends at the times advertised. If you arrive late, the session will still end at 4.45pm.
- Food, drink, face painting, bubbles and balloons are not allowed in the Play Base space.
