Meet Shaam Lal, an Indian soldier who is serving with the 16th Punjab Regiment in Burma during the Second World War. As he waits for a precious airdrop of supplies, Sepoy Lal is keen to tell you why he joined the Army, pass on the knowledge he has acquired while serving in the jungle and share his hopes for India’s future.

Shaam Lal is a fictional character, developed using sources from the National Army Museum Collection.
