Christmas and the Army: Sensory Session
Find out how soldiers have overcome a variety of obstacles to celebrate Christmas in this sensory session guided by our Community Engagement Team.
Christmas is a time for celebration, reflection, joy and merriment. Yet for soldiers across the centuries, serving in different parts of the world, it hasn’t always been easy to get into the Christmas spirit.
In this sensory session, gain an insight into how soldiers have attempted to mark the festive season despite illness, the elements and the banning of Christmas itself. Their stories will be brought to life through a combination of vivid descriptions and tactile experiences.
This is an opportunity to explore objects from the Museum’s collection primarily through touch and description. We welcome visitors who would particularly benefit from this approach, such as those who are blind, partially sighted or who have complex support needs.
How to attend
You're welcome to drop in at any point during the session. There's no need to book or register in advance.
