Dr Anne Samson provides a fascinating overview of the East Africa Campaign and its impact on the First World War.
During the First World War, British Empire soldiers fought a four-year mobile campaign against a small German force in East Africa. This drawn-out conflict saw German forces outmanoeuvre and hamper a much larger British force at almost every turn.
In this insightful talk, Dr Anne Samson will examine why the war stretched all the way to Africa, the diversity of involvement, logistics and medical aspects, as well as the war on land, in the air and on water. Finally, she will look at the impact on the home front and the conflict's legacy.
