The Road to Recovery exhibition follows the challenging journeys of rehabilitation and recovery taken by soldiers who have suffered life-changing physical or mental injuries.
The event will begin with a talk by Dr Emily Mayhew and exhibition curator Sophie Stathi. Together, they will describe the extraordinary achievements made by the unexpected survivors of complex casualty and the medical teams who have transformed research and practice to enable such progress over the last decade.
The talk will be illustrated by a unique set of photographs taken at DMRC Headley Court by award-winning photographer Rupert Frere.
After that, Emily will lead you on a tour of the exhibition, providing additional insights into its main themes.
Dr Emily Mayhew is a military medical historian specialising in the study of severe casualty, its infliction, treatment and long-term outcomes in 20th- and 21st-century warfare.
