War is a frequent theme of Shakespeare’s writing, from dramatic depictions of battle to the soldiers who serve as major and minor characters in many of his plays. Our exhibition Shakespeare and War draws on objects and records from the Civil Wars to the present day to explore how Shakespeare’s work has shaped attitudes both past and present.
On this guided gallery tour, Edward Richards will highlight the standout items within the gallery and show how Shakespeare’s famous plays have long been used as both a tool for propaganda and a weapon of critique.
Edward Richards has been delivering BSL tours in museums and galleries since 2002, including Tate Modern and the Design Museum. He has been delivering BSL tours for the National Army Museum for over two years.
