Why the Allies Won

Coronavirus update

The National Army Museum will be closed to the public from 18 March until further notice following the latest government guidance in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The capture of Kleve in Germany, 11 February 1945
Renowned historian James Holland discusses the events that brought the Second World War in Europe to an end in 1945.

The alliance between the United States, Britain and her Dominions was an extraordinary combined effort of coalition, co-ordination and collaboration. In this talk, James Holland will explore the 'big war' approach that put steel not flesh at the forefront.

He will aim to explain how and why the Allies managed to fight a war at sea, in the air and on land, and harness technology and global reach to help achieve victory against the Axis powers in 1945.
