Virtual Exhibition: The Unknown Warrior

Discover the extraordinary story of the First World War’s Unknown Warrior through our virtual exhibition.

Why is an unknown serviceman from the First World War buried in Westminster Abbey?

Explore the themes of commemoration and remembrance in the First World War through the virtual iteration of our exhibition, Buried Among Kings: The Story of the Unknown Warrior.

In this resource pack, learners will discover the story of the Unknown Warrior through a filmed exhibition tour showcasing key artefacts and guided by the exhibition’s very own curator. Next, by examining images of primary sources, learners can reflect on different types of First World War memorials and what makes them effective.

Learners can then complete an activity-packed worksheet, culminating with the opportunity to design their own memorial plaque honouring the Unknown Warrior to commemorate the centenary of his burial.
