In recent years, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) has become a key talking point across the globe. From its use in our everyday lives to its wide range of professional applications, the power of AI can seem almost limitless. But what does this mean for the future of conflict?
Is AI about to automate war? Are the machines taking over? As algorithms become ever more powerful, and autonomous and remote weapons are increasingly common on the battlefield, AI has become the defining political, strategic and ethical question of the era.
This event will address the profound question of the military applications of AI. Professor Anthony King will be joined by an panel of experts to discuss his new book, ‘AI, Automation and War’ (Princeton University Press), and its relevance for the British Army.
The panellists will include Rob Bassett-Cross MC (Adarga AI), Clo O'Neill (EIT), Professor Simona Soare (Lancaster University) and Major-General Zac Stenning OBE (Cyber and Specialist Operations Command).

Anthony King is Professor of War Studies and Director of the Strategy and Security Institute at the University of Exeter. His previous books include ‘Command: The Twenty-First-Century General’ and ‘Urban Warfare in the Twenty-First Century’.
