Anansi Tales

Wendy Shearer
Meet storyteller Wendy Shearer and hear tales of Anansi, the part-spider part-man African folk hero.

Formed in Nigeria on 1 March 1943, the 81st West African Division used the emblem of a black tarantula spider on a yellow background as their formation badge. This was inspired by the cunning part-spider part-man African folk hero known as Anansi.

Discover the tales of Anansi the Trickster in these storytelling sessions with Wendy Shearer. Wendy is the author of ‘African and Caribbean Folktales, Myths and Legends'. She regularly works with schools and institutions across the arts, bringing stories to life. Her sessions include traditional music, beautiful props and story-making activities to delight the whole family.
