Join Julian Farrance for a hands-on introduction to the kit and equipment used by the British Army in the Victorian age.

The Victorian era was a time of transformative change for the British Army’s uniform, kit and equipment, with soldiers switching from redcoats to khaki and from muskets to machine guns.

As part of our Victorian Soldier Spotlight, National Army Museum expert Julian Farrance will give an entertaining overview of these dramatic changes, making use of the Museum’s handling collection to illustrate the story.

About the speaker

Julian Farrance is Head of Regimental Museums and International Partnerships at the National Army Museum, and an expert on the uniform and dress of the British Army. He has worked at the Museum for 25 years, wearing several different hats in the course of his career.
