Ready, Steady, Radio

Children attending an activity workshop
Discover the story of the British Forces Network and test your skills as a Foley artist as you create your own sound effects in this interactive family workshop.

'The time in Britain is 12 noon, in Germany it's 1 o'clock, but home and away it's time for "Two-Way Family Favourites".'

Radio shows played an important part in helping soldiers feel connected with their families at home when stationed in Germany during the 1950s. Step into the world of broadcasting as you learn how to make your own sound effects using tips and tricks from the past.

Part of our summer series of family fun supporting the ‘Foe to Friend’ exhibition.
