Shakespeare and War: BSL Tour

Shakespeare and War exhibition
Follow expert guide Edward Richards on a British Sign Language (BSL) tour of the Shakespeare and War exhibition.

War is a frequent theme of Shakespeare’s writing, from dramatic depictions of battle to the soldiers who serve as major and minor characters in many of his plays. Our exhibition Shakespeare and War draws on objects and records from the Civil Wars to the present day to explore how Shakespeare’s work has shaped attitudes both past and present.

On this guided gallery tour, Edward Richards will highlight the standout items within the gallery and show how Shakespeare’s famous plays have long been used as both a tool for propaganda and a weapon of critique.
