Virtual Battlefield Tour: Brothers in Arms

Sherwood Rangers reconnaissance car crossing into German territory, October 1944

Sherwood Rangers reconnaissance car crossing into Germany, 1944

Follow in the footsteps of the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry's advance across North-West Europe in this virtual battlefield tour led by James Holland and Dan Hill.

The Sherwood Rangers finished the Second World War with more battle honours than any other single unit in the British Army. Veterans of the North Africa campaign, they were at the forefront of the fighting from D-Day on 6 June 1944 until Victory in Europe (VE) Day in May 1945.

Join military historians James Holland and Dan Hill as they follow in the tank tracks of the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry. Blending personal accounts, historic imagery, innovative new mapping and the latest technology with expert historical commentary and unseen items from the Museum’s collections, this tour will offer a unique new perspective on the wartime experiences of these ‘Brothers in Arms’.
