War through other stuff

Auxiliary Territorial Service archery, c1940
Find out how the history of war and conflict is being interpreted today with this guided gallery tour and panel discussion.

At a time when museums play an increasingly important role in connecting the public with military history, this event looks at how and why this is done and what the future holds for this exciting field.

In partnership with the War Through Other Stuff society, we will be hosting a discussion with a range of speakers from various heritage and academic institutions: specialists on different wars, time periods and methods of interpretation.

Free and open to everyone, the evening will begin with guided tours of the National Army Museum galleries, looking at examples of what we can learn about war by examining the 'other stuff' beyond weapons and fighting.

This will be followed by a series of short presentations from the speakers, and the chance for you to have your say in a group discussion.
